Trushar Patel opened Rajun Cajun in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood in 1993, offering freshly-prepared traditional Indian specialties along with Southern comfort foods. All the food is made in-house with lots of peeling and chopping of fresh ingredients - nothing is ready-made or from a can. Fans of the cafeteria-style restaurant send postcards from around the world to Trushar, missing the saag paneer, samosas, butter chicken, chicken curry, mango lassi, and more.
Amazing diner. Would give 10 stars if I could. The owners are very friendly and amazing also food felt like home. They and their food made our last dinner in chicago memorable.
Ate here twice tried both their soul food and Indian food. Both options were good a well rounded restaurant that'll make for a great lunch.
Food was so good, i wanted to go back for seconds LOL! I love me a good Mediterranean/Indian cuisine. It gives you that home cooked meal experience if you're away from home and on the go all the time. This is definitely the perfect place for that. The ingredients are natural and authentic. The food is great TRUST ME! If you are vegan this is also a great spot.
This was our go to place when studying at U of Chicago over 20 years ago. Went back after a long time to see the original owner still active and serving up Indian and southern US dishes at this Hyde Park long standing restaurant. Their Indian combo meals are excellent for sure and have remained so over the decades!
I love this place so much! I always get the butter chicken combo with spinach and cheese so good! The family been servicing the area for so long, I love them.
